5, 4,
3, 2, 1 ... Happy New Year!
Guests, young and not-so-young, welcomed the new millenium at Lithuanian Music
Hall in grand style. Party-goers began arriving at 8 p.m. and mingled in the lower banquet
room, enjoying hors d'oeuvres and cocktails. At 9:30, everyone proceeded to the
beautifully-festooned Grand Ciurlionis Ballroom for a delicious dinner, sumptuous
desserts, and festive dancing. The ever-popular Bobby Jay Orchestra and Philly's very own
Lithuanian Village Band played polkas, waltzes, tangos, traditional Lithuanian music, and
contemporary music as guests cut the rug amidst the candlelight and stunning decorations.
Guests greeted the new millenium with a champagne toast at midnight as hundreds of
multi-colored balloons floated to the dance floor from above. Dancing continued into the
early morning with breaks for breakfast - coffee, juice, Danishes, bagels, jams, and cream
cheese. What more could you ask for?
The New Year's Eve Gala sponsored by the Philadelphia Lithuanian American Community (LAC)
and the Lithuanian Music Hall Association was huge success! The LAC and the LMHA will be
hard-pressed to top this event next year. Most attendees claim it was the best New Year's
Eve party they can remember.. |
