VYTAS BAGDONAVICIUS, NJ
Currently
President of the Philadelphia Area LAC Chapter. Vytas is a business owner and an
electrical engineer by profession. In his youth, he attended elementary school at St.
George Parish where he was an active scout leader and was involved in parish activities.
In the late 1970's, he was elected to the Lithuanian Music Hall's (LMHA) Board of
Directors and served as Vice Chairman of Operations. There he coordinated major renovation
projects including the building of the Lithuanian Cultural Center. He organized and
chaired committees that hosted most of the New Year's Eve balls since 1979. He coordinated
the necessary technology installation for the LAC's Lithuanian Communications Center
during Lithuania's independence movement. Currently, he is a member of St. Andrew's parish
and participates in the parent's committee that supports the LAC Lithuanian School.
Recently, he was influential in joining the operations of the LAC and the LMHA, and is the
driving force behind the establishment of the Lithuanian American Center at the Lithuanian
Music Hall. "The Lithuanian American Community Center is urgently needed to unite and
involve Lithuanian Americans regardless of what generation they are in, as well as newly
arrived Lithuanians in our community activities. I also strongly believe that
inter-chapter cooperation in sports and cultural events is necessary to insure that our
Lithuanian heritage continues to flourish in our region. I'd like to be elected with the
Philadelphia team so our region's local interests are strongly represented in national
Lithuanian-American Community decisions".
