From September 29
to Oct 1, the Board of Directors of the Lithuanian American Community met in
Hartford Ct. to elect a new Executive Commitee and to set the agenda for the
next three years. Philadelphia was represented by the members elected to the Board in May
of this year. The weekend meeting saw the election of A. Gecys to the presidency of the
Executive Committee. The photo to the right shows R. Krusinskiene presenting the
resolutions of one of the subcommittees.
A. Gecys, a longtime member of the Philadelphia LAC, Inc., and past
president of the National Executive Committee of the LAC, Inc. was again elected to the
hightest executive office of the LAC, Inc. by a unaminous vote. The term of office is
three years. All positions in the National Executive Committee, inlcuding president are
unpaid, volunteer committments. Mr. Gecys will now have 30 days according the LAC, Inc.
by-laws to submit his choices for other committee members that will work with him to the
LAC Board of Directors for concurrence. Mr. Gecys will be assuming responsibilities of the
LAC Inc. presidency once his full committee is approved. This should occur in late
November or early Decemeber of this year. |
